Watching Nens Come and Go (from a Meta-cognitive Riverbank)

Zen training is about being absorbed in the first nen (thought-impulse) and not getting sucked into the secondary and tertiary interpretive follow-ups... MCT training (of the kind that I teach in the context of anger management) is about getting into the third nen - of becoming aware of me being aware of the first nen - and then not getting sucked into the fourth, fifth and n-th elaborations... Zen is about going with the flow, with the first nen-thought-impulse... MCT/riverbank - in the context of anger management - is about waiting it out, not acting upon it, about getting to the third base and then waiting for another first-order nen to arise...
