Pattern Break #0089-K2

"Think what the world would be if it were inhabited by superfishes instead of supermonkeys.  Accent would be absent or meaningless.  Rhythm would have no beat because the fish has none; the fins are in a legato rhythm.  All its movement, no matter how quick, i snot really sharp in the sense of a footstep, but sinuous and smooth.  There would never have been a clock - because the hours are beats in time - no drums, and no love of noisy accents anywhere.  A parade of marching fishes would be impossible, it would instead be an undulating advance with no drum major.  But possibly it would be much more beautiful and easier on the nerves."  (Doris Humphrey in "The Art of Making Dances")
